Sports Marketing: a form of marketing where the services offered to a company seek to build and/or enhance brand awareness to a targeted group of consumers using sporting events: teams; or personalities. Successful forms of this Marketing subsequently allow the company to associate its brand with the excitement and enjoyment derived from that sports event.

Sponsorship is an integral part of this Marketing process, and provides the platform for corporate to “own” a sporting event.
